SUPW

Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) is a "purposive productive work and services related to the needs of the child and the community, which will be proved meaningful to the learner. Such work must not be performed mechanically but must include planning, analysis and detailed preparation, at every stage so that it is educational. The Kothari Commission (1964–1966) advanced this concept by recommending the inclusion of "job experience" in education.

The first session deals with the process of lotion, detergent and washing powder preparation.

Each step for the preparation of each one of the product was well explained and prepared with the involvement of the students also. That was nice experience and we were enjoyed a lot. They gave us proper instructions for avoiding the toxicity of the chemicals used for the preparation.
At the end of the first session we prepared the stock for soap by adding 200g caustic soda in 600 ml water in a steel container. And remain it for 6 hrs for the dissolving and the completion of the reaction between water and caustic soda. The first session ended by 4.30 pm.

We made soap using the mixture kept remain yesterday, to this we added left over ingredients and poured into the soap mold under the guidance of Sukumaran sir and Ummar sir. And kept that undisturbed for 15 days.
